Our Network - High Resilience and Low Latency Interoute’s own international fibre optic network stretches across both Western and Eastern Europe and now reaches the Middle East. It provides Nx10Gbps of intercity IP capacity. Over that network we have built the most modern (built in 2002) and largest MPLS network in Europe. MPLS is more efficient core network technology as compared with traditional SDH networks for packet-based traffic. Each city is connected to at least two other cities with full diversity from the fibre ducts underground to the routers and switches in our core PoPs. In most of the key European cities we then have our own metropolitan fibre network that connects our metro PoPs to our core network. These too have dual diverse paths back into the core PoPs where we have at least 2 core multi-gigabit switched routers. We have engineered our whole network to support our comprehensive SLA including 100% availability. Interoute is present in 16 of the worlds top peering exchanges in 13 countries. This helps get your traffic across the Internet as directly as possible. We can multi-home to your Autonomous System to provide you with maximum resilience. Interoute accept Multi Exit Discriminator values from customers and will act upon them within our network boundaries. The old tier 1 club of nine North American ISPs are preserving their wholesale transit revenues through an aggressive de-peering exercise which leads to a concentration of routes in few interconnects. As the recent failure of one of these peering relationships showed the impact is significant (20% of all traffic failed to reach its destination), Interoute’s model is based on an efficient performance and resilience. This means we have multiple routes (resiliency) and more direct routes to the major providers in more regions (performance) which is why we are the fastest growing international ISP globally. Our network is managed 24x7 by two network operations centres in different countries to maintain our business continuity and service to you. |
